Turkey Weekend Fun

I know it's past Thanksgiving but Jon and I made Homemade Rolls as part of our feast and I have to post a picture due to the fact that we were so proud of ourselves. We did Thanksgiving with Amber and Chris and their family and also with another couple in the ward so we divided everything up. Jon and I cooked together from 11-3.. it made for some great memories! All of the food that was made was super delicious! The rest of the weekend Jon and I just relaxed and enjoyed the sun.. can you believe it is still warm here I am still in shock these pictures are from the end of November!

Craft world here I come??

So I would not consider myself in particular a crafty person but I sure am going to try! The other night I made these cute little hair clips with my friend Claire! They are so cute and so easy to make! So I also bought material and have great plans to make bibs, burp clothes, and aprons.. I'll keep you posted as to how that all goes!

Vote Tommorrow.. Yes on Prop 8

So here is a little picture of our lovely Prop 8 sign, this is our fourth sign as the rest have been stolen. This sign however lasted 2 weeks, we glued it to the wood, stapled it on, and then screwed it into the tree, I thought for sure this one would be the winner, but sadly to say last Friday it was spray painted. Don't worry though we now have our fifth and last sign way up in the tree, nobody will be able to touch this one! This week has been crazy as we have done two Prop 8 rally's, one on Saturday and one tonight, no matter what happens it just feels good to stand up for what you believe in.. Go Prop 8!!

Happy Halloween!

Halloween is finally here! This morning we had a pumpkin pancake fest with our friends Kitta and Pete, it was a great way to kick off the day. Sorry it was early so I have no pictures of it to post. However I do have a picture of us carving pumpkins.. Jon and I have carved pumpkins twice this month and within two days they were moldy, I guess that is the trade off you get for having good weather!

Trail Running

Most Saturdays Jon and I explore for new sweet trail runs, there are so many around where we live but it's all about getting out and finding them. The trail in this picture is up Topanga Canyon, the trail takes you right out looking over the ocean, the cloud cover in the pictures is amazing. There are about 6 different trail runs up there, and a few are single track.. amazing! The best part is that normally this time in Utah when we are out running we have to layer all up and make sure the weather is okay... but here it's still 80-90 degrees, I am in love!

A visit from KP.. well now KJ!

So I was lucky this past weekend my girlfriend KP came to visit me from San Fran! We went up Fryman and out to dinner at the galleria, and went to the Getty, but the best part was just chatting it up and talking about old times of the BrickHouse girls.. oh how we had so many good times throughout college! I feel blessed to have so many good friends in my life!

Music that moves you?

So for whatever reason it has been a while sense I really listened to music, when I'm in the car with Jon we are talking and until now I was always busy during the day so I didn't get the time to listen to anything. So I realised recently that I miss my old friend of music, this past week while in the car running errands I have listened to so much fun music on the radio, it's amazing how music can alter a mood, make you happy and excited or reflective. So if you were to see me right now driving my car I would be bopping my head around singing hit and miss words and having a good old time. So the question is what is the music that moves you? I need to get some good mixes and tunes going considering that the radio doesn't always provide the best stuff. Let me know your thoughts!! I need some good stuff!!

California Camping Extravaganza

For Labor day we headed up to Lake Isabella near the Sequoia's to camp, now don't get the idea that sequoia equals trees everywhere because that is not the case where we went. Apparently we did not go far enough to get big trees! The first night was just Jonny and I and let's just say the river was amazing, the town was amazing however our camping spot was compact with several people playing loud music until 2 a.m I was not a fan. The next morning we packed up and took off to find better territory worthy of us!! We found a great quite place right next to the river that was cool and perfect. Amber, Chris and the kids came up and we roasted several marshmellows, played games and enjoyed being outside!

Angels vs. Texas Rangers!

Jon and I got some sweet tickets this last weekend (Thanks Eric and Claire) to the Angels game. We were right behind home plate only about seven rows back so everything was super up close! We got VIP parking which means you basically park at the front entrance and walk in, once in your seats they bring the food to you; no reason to walk around and find it right! The game was really fun to watch, we saw a great catch that was headed over the bleachers for a home run, and we saw a major home run hit. Usually I love ballgames for the seventh inning stretch and the hot-dog, however I was totally entertained by being close to all the action that I loved it just for the game itself.

Weekend Adventure!

Jill and Drew came to California to be our first visitors at our new pad! The weekend was amazing and I have to say I think they have more energy then Jon and I do. We hit Universal Studios for our first time ever and I would have to say the mummy ride was my favorite, the first time on Jill and I were gripping arms screaming it was pretty funny. The Jarassic Park ride was great that is if you want to be wet for over half of the day! That night we bummed around the city walk, ate yummy food and watched a movie. The next two days we hit the beach and boogie boarded. Jill and I tried to share a boogie board and make a wave in together, I wouldn't say we were completely unsuccessful however we got drowned a lot of times, are final ride in
we got hit by three waves just to make it to shore it was pretty sweet. The weekend was a perfect escape from real life and it was so fun to see Jill, we have set a record this year of seeing each other on a monthly basis until now we will have to wait three and a half months until our next adventure!

Bad Car Luck

This picture pretty much describes I how feel right now, Last week we had to tow Jon's car because it wouldn't start to an auto shop and then yesterday I was driving back from dropping my sister off at the airport in LA, when my radio went out, then the air, then the blinkers, then the gas. Luckily I managed to get off the freeway without causing a wreck due to the prime traffic hour that my car decided to break down at!! Then I had my car towed away, just plum bad luck I have to say.. the car places out here charge you an arm and a leg and then some. Sometimes I have to think Why Now!

Does it get more beautiful then Alaska?

Recenlty Jon and I took an Alaskan cruise with some of the Cook side of the family and it was amazing. I really feel I have never seen a place so beautiful. Some of the main highlights from the trip were: Zip lines in Ketchakan, were we went down seven different lines and 3 floating bridges, celebrating Jon's Birthday and having the waiters sing to him, the glacier in Juneau was the best part for me. We took a helicopter ride for about 1/2 hour and then landed on the glacier. We were dressed in gear with cramp ons and ice picks, and hiked around the glacier, drank glacier water, rappelled down the ice, it was so incredible. In Skagway I got to see two of my uncles, my Aunt Karla and cousin Kristen which was super fun and we got yummy fudge from their shop which was devoured in about 1 day! We also went on a sweet hiking trail which took us up to lower lake, we walked around town and of course had ice cream. In Sitka we found a nature walk trail that everyone went on, and then Jon and I found an amazing trail run, the best ever. The trail was great with just the right amount of up's and down's, we had to keep yelling bear as we ran as to make sure we did not run into one! About 3 1/2 miles up we both had a feeling we should turn around and head back to town. In Anchorage we mostly chilled and at yummy food, walked the town, and somehow Jon and I got the honeymoon sweet room that included a jucuzzi right in the middle... I really can't complain! The boat was great with plenty to eat, and rounds of settlers to be played. The whole trip was just amazing however trips are always more fun when your surrounded by friends and family, thanks for making it the best Amber and Chris, Kent and Debbie!!!

The above pictures are of Skagway and Sitka.

Above Pictures.. The Glacier

Above Pictures the zip lines, we even got medals!

Saying Goodbye is the Hardest Part

This past week has been a whirlwind of emotion as Jon and I packed up all of our belongings said our good byes and headed to Sunny California, this time not for just three months. I already miss so many things about Utah, our last few nights went out with a bang we celebrated Jon's B-day, we floated the Provo river, and watched fireworks with friends it was fabulous. I am excited to see where our new adventures take us and will keep you posted.

Team Sister Rocks

Jill and I did the Echo Xango Olympic Relay Triathlon together and we pretty much rocked! About a week before the event Jill sprained her ankle and asked if I could do the running portion of the Tri. and some how I agreed! It was actually a really cool experience to be a team and cheer each other on, I had a blast! So here is a sign that we were meant to be a team we both wore the same tank top just different colors and we completley matched... which was not planned and we had both bought without each other knowing right before the race, we thought that was pretty funny!

Birthday Extravaganza!

Famous People born on July 11th... John Quincy Adams, Giorgio Armani, but most importantly me!

It's true I am now the big 27, don't worry in a few years I will no longer be reporting the age I am. I know 27 is young but it's feeling really close to 30 and I am not a fan. I could not have asked for more this birthday, for the festivities Jon and I took off work and headed to Seven Peaks with friends and family! We brought in a cooler of yummy food and stayed there pretty much the whole day, best ride of all would be going down the boomarang with my sister Jill, she was freaked and it was great! Afterwards we headed to Macaroni Grill where they gave me the best cheesecake I have had in a while! Then after dinner we headed to the drive inn in Salt Lake to see Hancock (which I might add was not the greatest). It was such an amazing day, thank you to everyone who came and joined in the festivities, who called, sent cards or just thought of me! Currently I have left my camera in California, so I had to steal this picture from Dave and Emily!

Happy 4th of July

The 4th of July is my favorite holiday of all time, I love love love fireworks! We headed down to Moab with our friends to camp out, do some trail runs and watch the fireworks. We also found this sweet watering hole that we played in, and the boys found some cliffs to jump off of, it was great specially due to the fact that Moab is so hot. In fact it was so hot that on Friday afternoon we had to sit under shaded tree's found at the church just to cool off. Saturday we headed down to Colorado to stay with my sister and go to Rylan's Baptism, I'm so proud of him. We toured the Monument, swam, played games, had a BBQ, watched movies and best of all went boating! My body is still sore from tubing and wake boarding. With plans to move to California in two weeks I am loving every minute of being with family and playing, I can't get enough.

Red Pine Lake Hike

Two weekends ago we headed up Little Cotten Wood Canyon to hike RedPine. One of Jon's favorite Utah hike is up to Red Pine and then on to the Pfiefferhorn, however we were not able to make it all the way up to the Pfiefferhorn as the area was still completley covered in snow. We figured though that the 8 mile round trip hike to the lake would be good enough, even then about a half mile of the trek was in snow.

The trail was great and the area was so beautiful, I can see why Jon loves it so much. Jon was like a shot deer and ran most of the way, I was totally impressed! Here are a few pics!

Jackson Goodbye Party!

Our fabulous friends the Jackson's are moving to Portland Oregon for Dental School, so we had to have a happening party full of swimming, bbq, games and more! I am sad to see them go but excited for them also, and now we will have a great excuse to visit Oregon!

Trail Running.

Jon and I have been really wanting to get into trail running as we thought it might spice up our runs and make it more enticing to get out there and do it. So we went up the canyon to Stewart Falls to make our first attempt, however as we were about to reach our destination we realized there was a ranger in the parking booth meaning would have to pay 6 dollars to park and hike the trail. Jon and I were obviously way to cheap for that and turned around to find a secret way to get into the hike. Actually I don't know if it is even a secret way but we basically started right at the base of Sundance and it was free so we were pumped. The run was great there were so many obstacles to keep our minds off the fact that we were actually running!

Catch -All

Here is just a quick update of our happenings as of late...
The nights have been getting nice and warm which makes being outside late really nice! I find that at least once a year while living in Provo to hike the Y, so we went with our neighbors David & Britni on our late evening trek. Surprisingly instead of panting at every switch back like I usually do, I made it up and wasn't even really winded, progress is always good right.
Our next adventure consisted of my sister and her family coming to Provo for the day to visit. We all went to Red Robin and played in the swimming pool. The two oldest boys stayed the night at our house, as Jon and I are always looking for ways to be the favorites to all our nieces and nephews! The weather wasn't great so we were limited, but it was still so fun to see them.

The final adventure that I need to catch up on is our California Trip.. so fun! Jon and I headed to Sherman Oaks last weekend to hang with the Thompson's. We celebrated Ethan's birthday, ate dinner at Gladstones on the beach, and of course took a trip to the beach. It was a windy day which means only Jon was up for getting in the water!

Above is Jon making his all time favorite drip castles with the kids. Below is him on the boogie board and getting buried! I think he just crashed in this one!

We have been having such a great June, and there will be more to come!
