Introducing Brooklyn Paige Cook... A.K.A. The Cookie

So finally I am getting around to posting about our sweet baby! At 8:20 Monday the 9th my water broke! Jon and I were were in shock, super excited and border line hyper about the situation. We had nothing packed or ready to go, our house was a mess and we had not done our grocery shopping.. perfect timing for the baby to come.. 10 days early!
So we got to the hospital around 9, and just hung out for a while, walked around, we were off to a great start. Around noon they wanted to get me on petossin, and then around 4 I got the epidural. Things were still going well until around 8 but then the baby's heartbeat was going into stress and I was not progressing far enough along. The baby was faced the wrong direction, so around 9 I was told we needed to do an emergency C-section.. yikes.. and yes I totally cried. It all worked out and at 9:50 our beautiful baby girl was born!! 7lbs. 8oz and 19.5 inches long, we are in love! Here is Jon the proud Daddy!
She is such a good baby, sleeps well, hardly cries and is healthy .. which has been a life saver for Jon and I as we have had a crazy week after the baby was born. We are so grateful for this baby girl, for the gift of life, for all your sweet prayers and support. Words truly cannot express how grateful we feel!

Weigh In Day!

So I left the Doctor's office the other day a little sad. Every time I go to the Doctor's I have the same routine, I try and eat the same thing in the morning wear the same outfit.. just so when I get onto the scale, I can hear the nurse say, good job you have only gained one pound. This had been a good routine for me and working great I almost expect the same good job every time I go in, but this week instead of one pound the nurse said... looks like 4 pounds! Seriously I thought 4 lbs. only one week.. wow what happened! So then as I waited for the Doctor to come in I had some time to reflect on my week and here is how it went...
Good friend Reeces Peanut Butter Cups somehow magically slipped into my cart at the grocery store, in which I ate the whole bag.
Followed then by some magical oreo twisted frostys from Wendys that I decided to try out, and then continued to try them out all week long! They really are delicous by the way! I guess I deserved to have the scale weigh me in at a 4 lbs. gain in one week.
I decided to be good so my next weigh in went better.. and now here I am the night before and not only have I been eating Halloween candy and making yummy cake, but I found myself tonight eating 4 slices of this lovely Papa Johns pizza... yes Four slices of the large pizza! I'm not sure exaclty how my stomach even had the room to fit four slices of pizza in, but it did and I can't say I didn't enjoy it! Clearly my eating habits have gone downhill these past few weeks, so I will have to let you know how weigh in day goes tommorrow and let's just hope this baby comes quick or who knows what I'll look like!

Happy Halloween

Halloween was a great one this year, Jon and I carved pumpkins, went to Halloween parties and ate way too much candy. Here we are all decked out in our costumes as Thing 1, Thing 2, and Thing 3! And pictured below the lovely Jon deciding the best way to gut a pumpkin! Hope your Halloween was spooky good.

Update Update Update

So finally after much searching we found the camera and then after some more searching we found the camera charger.. yeah so now some posting finally!
It has been about two months since we moved from California and we are loving our new home here in Colorado. We are just about settled and Jon's work is going well so far so we are grateful and feel blessed! So what have we been up to, we took another trip to the Flaming Gorge cabin with friends and rafted and played however no camera at the time means no documenting pictures. We have also spent several nights over at the baseball fields watching our nephews play in their ball games. They had a great fall season and it was fun to hoot and holler at them!Recently we headed to Utah to stay at the Nelson's cabin.. thank you thank you Nelson's we love that place. We were able to go to the BYU vs. Colorado game which was fun, I love football season and the smell of concession stands! Here are the boys with Cosmo. Jon also went on a deep sea fishing trip in Washington with Drew our brother in law. He caught some monster salmon and had a great time. He did however get sea sick for the first two days.. sick enough he said he can't even look at saltines for a while, the third day was the charm with no sickness. We had a fish bake when he got back and for the first time I actually started to like fish and wanted seconds.. which never has happened before!Let's see what else... we also just had another ultra sound officially showing that this babe is a girl and she is not breach. Everything is looking well, and we are just waiting for her debut, only a little less then 5 weeks to go! Here is the most recent bump picture, just taken on Sat. This is a hike called the lunch loop, I am definetely looking forward to running this instead of walking/hiking in the near future! As for pictures of our place I haven't taken any pictures but I will soon!

Let's Just call this post July!!

It's been a while since I have posted so I will just lump all of July into one for you all to enjoy! July is absolutely my favorite month of the year it consists of the forth of July, my Birthday and most importantly sun sun sun! This July however with being pregnant I wish the sun would take it down a few notches but still I can't complain. It's been a crazy busy month so here goes it...

1. We started the month off taking our vacation over to Colorado and flaming gorge to visit my sister and family. It was fantastic we went on hikes and trail runs and played with her sweet boys. I'm a loser however and had too much fun I barely broke out the camera so here is a pic of Jon and I on one of our hikes.

2. For my Birthday celebration we headed down to Huntington beach, which is my favorite of all the beaches out here. We packed a picnic with friends, played in the water.. all the good stuff, and then headed out to dinner with my sister in law where you cook your food over your own grill it was great.

3. The latest Harry Potter movie came out.. need I say more. We headed with our friends Mandy and Aaron to the 1 A.M. showing.. thats right it took nearly a whole day to catch back up on that sleep. This is us just before it starts!4. Jon Hiked Mt Whitney all 22 miles of it in one day, he came home tired but accomplished, I was super proud. Here is all the brothers together!
5. We found out that we are probably having a girl.. yep that's right after two ultrasounds and the legs crossed both times we have not got a solid answer just a probable girl! Well take it though our little Brooklyn will be here shortly, only 14 weeks left! This picture was taken 5 weeks ago it's the most recent I have of the bump.. I look back only wish I was that size again.. I have grown much in the past few weeks.

6. And just to see if you were all still reading this lovely post.. Jon and I are moving this weekend to Colorado.. yes that's right moving this very weekend to Colorado. It has all happened super quick, Jon has been flying back and forth for the last few weeks to start work there and finish things here, but were doing it. He has been offered a great job and we feel like it will be a good place for another new adventure. So currently my life looks like this.. good times I know. I will miss many of the fun things about California but will also be happy to be done packing and situated in our next place. I am tired!! I am grateful for the little journeys that life takes us on.

Two Year Anniversary.. and a Baby on the way!!

Jon and I hit are two year anniversary mark a few weeks ago! It was great we had celebrated early by going down to San Diego for the weekend and then on the night of we went out to this great restaurant that played Jazz music for us. But really what made the day was hearing the heartbeat of our sweet baby to come!!! Yes it's true I am pregnant and have just hit my 12 weeks mark. We are super excited and felt very blessed to see that the baby was growing and had a heartbeat. We are so excited to start our family and I'm due on Nov. 19th!
It was the perfect anniversary and I am so lucky to have married such an amazingly sweet husband who takes care of me so well. I have been so appreciative of him while I have been sick and not able to eat most things, he does most the cooking right now and just knows how to make me happy!

P.S. The photo was done by Tara Bekker who is amazing, she just took these pictures of us a few weeks ago and I will be posting them next!

And Finally... a new post!

It has been too long since I have last blogged, I am unsure of even where to start. You know once you get out of the habit of doing something, it takes a lot more effort to even do it again! But I am back and will try to be better at updating.
Here is a glimpse of the things we have been up to these last few months.

We took a trip over to Arizona to spend spring break with my sister and her family. They had a really sweet house to stay at with memberships to the country club, where we spent most our time. I love being with these boys and my sister.

On our way back home, Jon and I popped over to Joshua Tree and took a little hike. We didn't have much time there, but we can't wait to make a camping trip out of it and rock climb.

Here is a picture of us on a local hike a few weeks ago with some friends, it was beautiful, however our destination was to make it to this great waterfall.. we made it but it was not much of a waterfall.
The picture is a bit blurry but it works.

A few weeks ago we ran the Cheeseboro Half Marathon.. and it was amazing. 7.5 miles of the race is all on trail, and unfortunately about 9 of the miles were all uphill. The course was absolutely beautiful and they had the best after half marathon party! Jon and I plan to run this course ever year we live out here.

Here we all are, Amber, Jon, Me and Bekah. We convinced Amber to run her first race, she did the 10k and was amazing, she is a natural runner. And Bekah joined us in the Half without even really training.. it was fun!And finally Jon and I went to San Diego Last week and met up with my Aunt, Uncle and Cousins. We had a great time! Here we are just outside of the temple, which was absolutley gorgeous.Well that is all for now.. and I will try to get back on track with my posting.. thanks to all of you who have told me I need a new post!

At Last Christmas Pictures!

Jon and I took 2 1/2 weeks off to head to Utah and Colorado for the best Christmas Vacation Ever! I know that Christmas is long gone but it also looks like our camera cord that downloads our pictures to the computer is also long gone and it has taken me till now to find alternative measures. I now bring you to our Christmas Vacation!
First we spent time in Salt Lake with the Cook side for some parties.. in which I have no photos of but I am hoping to get some soon. Then we went to my sister Jill's house in Colorado where we played games, stayed up late, hot-tubed, played in the snow, working out.. you name it we did it, and then we stayed in the Nelson's sweet cabin in Hobble Creek(thank you thank you Nelsons) where we played massive amounts of guitar hero, played with friends and I watched Jon do cranberry shots every morning! It was a great time!

You may not know this but Jon was Santa this year!

Just call us crazy!

My first night in Grand Junction Colorado, my sister informs me... we are running tommorrow at 6 a.m., for those of you that know me that is already a crazy idea but I love the way you feel after running and wanted to go. We got up in the morning got dressed and in the car only to find out it was -1 Degrees outside.. and yes we still ran our 3 miles.

Here we all are before the run!

And the after photo... I think white mascara could be a really good look for me!
